Gouda is a compact city: everything you want to see is within walking distance of the Markt. That also means you are best off leaving the car at the edge of the city centre. There is hardly any space in the narrow streets around the Markt, and parking on the ring road around the centre is cheapest. These are all the options, from car park to P+R, plus the tips we give our guests.
The car parks
Nieuwe Markt car park (Q-Park), Conventstraat 7-13. The car park closest to the Markt. The town hall, the Waag (weigh house) and Gouds Glas are a few minutes' walk away. On Saturdays and during events, this is also the car park that fills up first.
Bolwerk car park (Q-Park), Sint Mariewal 3. On the west side of the centre, a quiet walk through the old town from the Markt. A good alternative when Nieuwe Markt is full.
Outdoor car parks around the centre
- Klein Amerika, Klein Amerika 30. Large car park on the ring road, also suitable for campervans up to 6 metres. Overnight stays are not permitted.
- Schouwburgplein, Boelekade 67. At the Goudse Schouwburg theatre, on the north side of the centre.
- Vossenburchkade, Vossenburchkade 50. On the edge of the city centre, within walking distance of the Markt.
- Groenheuvel, Tobbepad 4. Suitable for all campervans; overnight stays are not permitted.
P+R at the station
The P+R car park is at Burgemeester Jamessingel 1, right next to Gouda station. From the station it is about a five-minute walk along the Kleiweg to the Markt. Handy if you want to avoid the crowds around the centre, or if part of your group is coming by train.
Rates and payment
Rates differ per location and change regularly, so we deliberately do not list them here. Current rates, opening hours and the number of free spaces can be found at gouda.parkeerservice.nl. Rule of thumb: the further from the Markt, the cheaper.
Parked? Then it is just a few minutes' walk to Markt 40. Book your table and it will be ready when you arrive.
Book a table →Tips for busy days
- Cheese market Thursdays (April to August, 10:00 to 12:30): arrive before 10:00 or choose the P+R at the station. Also read our guide to the cheese market.
- Saturdays: Nieuwe Markt fills up first; Klein Amerika and Bolwerk more often have space.
- Gouda by Candlelight (Gouda bij Kaarslicht) (Friday 11-12-2026): the city centre is packed that evening and the car parks fill up early. Come by train or bike.
- Evenings: for dinner there is usually plenty of space in all car parks.
By train or bike
Gouda station has direct connections to Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague (about twenty minutes) and Amsterdam (about fifty minutes). The station is a five-minute walk from the centre. Coming by bike? Park it in the Nieuwe Markt bicycle parking: 700 spaces, 70 charging points for e-bikes, the first 24 hours free and 1.25 euros per day after that.
From your parking spot to Gouds Glas
Gouds Glas is at Markt 40, right next to the town hall. From the Nieuwe Markt car park you are there in a few minutes, from the other car parks it is at most a ten-minute walk through the city centre. You are welcome for coffee from 10:00, lunch starts at 11:30 and dinner at 17:00.
